Why WHISPER exists

The problem it was built to solve was mundane and familiar: someone was sending announcements to a few hundred people by pasting numbers into a phone, one batch at a time. Numbers were saved in half a dozen inconsistent formats. Duplicates meant people got the same message three times. Nobody could say afterwards who had actually received it, and nobody could tell the treasurer what it had cost.

Existing tools mostly assumed a marketing team and a marketing budget. What was needed was narrower: clean the numbers automatically, send once to everybody, show the cost before sending, and produce a report afterwards that a committee would accept. That is what WHISPER does.

What makes it Ghanaian

• Local number handling. Numbers written as 024XXXXXXX are converted to the 233XXXXXXXXX format networks require, automatically, on upload.
• Every major network. Delivery to MTN, Telecel, AirtelTigo at one flat rate of GHS 0.04 per message.
• Payment in cedis. Top up with MTN Mobile Money, Telecel Cash, AirtelTigo Money or a card — not a foreign card requirement.
• Sender ID registration. Requests are submitted to the Ghanaian networks on your behalf and tracked in the dashboard.
• Priced for local budgets. No monthly fee, no contract, and credits that never expire — because most Ghanaian organisations send in bursts, not on a steady monthly schedule.

Who builds it

WHISPER is built and maintained by Martin Osei Boakye, based in Accra, Ghana. It is a working product with real users rather than a side project — support questions are answered directly by the person who writes the code.
